PARISH NEWS

THANK YOU
We received the following letter from the diocesan Catholic Schools Office:
On behalf of the more than 9,000 students who attend Catholic Schools throughout
the diocese, thank you to the parishioners of Good Shepherd Parish for your generous
support of the 2007 Catholic Schools Appeal in September. Thank you for your
continued support of these schools and please keep all those who study, pray, and
teach in them in your prayers.

BULLETIN DEADLINE FOR INFORMATION
Just a reminder…the deadline for submitting information for the
bulletin is on Mondays at 3 PM. It should be in writing, and you
can do it in any of 4 ways: by fax (508-234-0964); email
(gshepherd7726@charter.net), or simply drop it off at the rectory
or in the collection basket. Thank you for your help!

Ministers of Care News
Our Good Shepherd Ministers of Care are available to bring Our Lord
Jesus in Holy Communion to those in our parish who are unable to
come to Mass due to advanced years or illness. If you or someone
in your family would like to receive a visit, just call the rectory
(234-7726) to let us know. It would be our privilege to bring our
Good Shepherd to your home in sacrament and in the supportive,
caring presence of a person from the church community.

Diocese of Worcester Pilgrimage

49th  International Eucharistic Congress

Quebec, Canada      June 18-23, 2008

June 18:

Join Most Rev. Robert J. McManus on this pilgrimage-tour to Quebec, Canada. Depart this morning

from Worcester via motor coach for the drive north to Quebec, Canada. En route, visit the

Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Benoit-du-Lac where there will be time for Mass, private prayer,

shopping and refreshments. Continue on to Quebec. Overnight Quebec area (Montmagny) 5 nights.

June 19, 20, 21:

During the following 3 days, participate in the activities surrounding the Eucharistic Congress,

whose theme is "The Eucharist, Gift of God for the Life of the World." One of the many highlights

will be a visit to the famous Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre, dedicated to Mary's Holy Mother,

Saint Anne. The journey will also include visits to Monmorency Falls and Old Quebec City where

you can stroll its quaint streets at leisure.

June 22:

Cap our pilgrimage to Quebec with the closing ceremony which will be presided over by a Papal

Legate. Because of the Papal Legate's presence, this closing Mass will have its symbolic import

of being the visible communion of the universal Church gathered around Jesus Christ present in

the Eucharist. In the evening, gather for the farewell dinner.

June 23:

Morning departure from Quebec for the return trip back to Worcester; en route visit Cap de la

Madeleine and the sanctuaire Notre Dame du Cap. Arrive back in Worcester in the evening.

Flyers with fees and registration forms are at the back table and at the rectory.

Catholic Charities Homecare

“Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Outreach
Do you enjoy cooking? Our ministry is looking for additional people to help
in this very important (and delicious!) outreach. Our teams provide meals on
a monthly basis for those in the parish who can use an extra hand whether it’s
due to illness, job loss, or a happy time, such as the birth of a child.
Confidentiality is a must! If you would like to help, or need more information,
please call Laurie Petty at 278-6901.

Open Your Heart as You Close Your Loan

your home. When you close your home loan we’ll make a $300 contribution
to Good Shepherd Parish.

Program, please call John Convent at (800) 685-5901 ext.2221.

Blackstone Valley Peace of Bread Community Kitchen

The Kitchen is a volunteer community effort organized to provide a free,
hot meal and companionship to those in need. The Kitchen has been serving
meals every Wednesday since September 2003. At present approximately 100+
people gather for a hot meal at the United Presbyterian Church on Cottage
St. in Whitinsville each week.
Good Shepherd Parish has joined with other area churches and businesses
sharing in this ministry. We have a team that cooks and serves a meal
every three or four months. We are planning a fundraiser on April 14th to
defray the cost of food for so large a group. Details will follow next week.

Psalm 23 Redux
The Lord is my companion, my best friend, my mentor, my soul mate,
my true love, my coach, my idol, my grampa, my everything – and when
He is with me, and I am with Him, I can’t think of a place on earth
I’d rather be.
He is blue skies and gentle breezes, soft showers and spring flowers.
He is quiet pools and crashing oceans – But wherever He is when I let
Him in, He lifts me up, takes me higher, puts me on top of the world.
I know that when I listen to His whisper in my heart I’m not alone:
if I stumble, He’ll catch me; if I fall, He’ll pick me up
if I’m afraid, He’ll help me find strength
if I’m sick or worried or if others are mad at me,
if I fail or get fired or break up,
if I’m short or fat or homely or none-too-bright –
He won’t give up one me, He’ll love me like my Mom,
Like my Dad, like I was a star!
I know that, it fills me, it completes me, it’s awesome,
and ‘cuz I know all this, ‘cuz He loves me,
I can bear anything, try anything,
come back from anything, accomplish anything
‘cuz I know when my time is up, I’m goin’ to Him
and I’ll be hugged in His arms
and bury my face in His neck and be cradled to sleep
by the beat of His heart – for me, for me.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and
I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Parish Hall Rentals

Perhaps you may not be aware, but our parish hall, with its beautiful
new kitchen facilities, can be rented by families or organizations for
private and public events and celebrations. We think you’ll find the
rental fees to be competitive and even low:
• A $100 dollar retainer will reserve the hall for your event.
($50 will be refunded after the event, provided that the kitchen,
hall, and restrooms are left in “tip-top” shape);
• A non-refundable fee of $25 will be charged to civic and community
organizations for public meetings and events;
• Our Bereavement Ministry provides the opportunity for families to
gather in the parish hall after the funeral mass of a loved one.
This service has been provided to our families free of charge, but
as this involves much time and labor by our coordinators, hostesses,
hosts, and bakers in set-up, service, and clean-up, a goodwill
donation is gratefully appreciated.
